Elevate Your Movement. Transform Your Career.

Pilates and Fitness Education by Susieg — for trainers, therapists, and movement professionals who want more.

Bridging Fitness and Pilates

I have been teaching fitness classes since high school and began my career as an international fitness educator with American Aerobics Association after completing my Master’s Degree at the University of Tennessee, where I also taught at the university level. Over the years, I have trained a wide range of clients in three different states. Yet it wasn’t until I discovered The Pilates Method that I realized how much more effective and impactful I could be as a fitness professional. Pilates elevated both my personal awareness and my teaching skills to an entirely new dimension.

I thrive on learning, growing, and sharing. My commitment to surrounding myself with high-quality teachers continues to expand my knowledge, which I integrate into both my private practice and education programs. I’m passionate about deepening my understanding of human movement—and equally passionate about passing that knowledge on to others. My goal is to offer “Cadillac-level” programs through my work through teacher training, always striving to raise the standard of excellence in fitness education.

Through years of experience in both the fitness and Pilates worlds, I’ve observed that the most well-rounded and effective trainers are those who blend both disciplines. Unfortunately, this is rare. My mission is to bridge this gap—to refine and elevate trainers into versatile teachers who can work with any client, from athletes to rehabilitation patients.

Why Pilates?

The fitness industry often emphasizes global muscle strength and development. Pilates goes further, teaching movement from the inside out. While it can take years to fully develop as a Pilates teacher, the method offers unparalleled efficiency and effectiveness. If I had to choose just one modality, it would be Pilates. However, I also recognize the unique benefits of strength training with free weights and body conditioning. Together, fitness and Pilates create the most complete approach to movement, strength, and function

Founding the Pilates Team

I am proud to be one of the three founding teachers of The Pilates Team. In 2020, when industry standards and student learning preferences began shifting toward computer-based education, we saw an opportunity to create something better. Our vision was to design a program that maximizes time, offers true flexibility, and allows students to begin their journey at any point in the year—all while maintaining the highest standards of Pilates education.

What makes our program unique is its foundation. We intentionally built it to teach Anatomy and Method Fundamentals from both the Classical and Progressive repertoires. Beyond that, we wanted to empower Master Educators to share their expertise in their own authentic way, while using our user-friendly platform to guide students into becoming thoughtful, critical-thinking educators.

Our curriculum is aligned with both the National Pilates Certification Program and the International Teacher Training Approval Program (ITTAP). This means every graduate of The Pilates Team will be fully qualified to sit for the National Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) exam.

This program represents the ultimate in Corrective Exercise Training (CET)—a true 360-degree education that prepares teachers to work with clients at every level, from rehabilitation to peak performance.

Why AAAI

I love working with AAAI because they uphold academic integrity by maintaining university-style classes taught by live instructors, with both written and practical exams. Unlike many organizations, AAAI has resisted the trend of moving certifications entirely online with standardized tests. I believe strongly that if fitness professionals are working with people, they should learn their craft in person, not just from videos.
